BlackBerry, Research in Motion's brainchild that has swept the nation, has recently become much less of a presence in the smartphone market when compared to Apple and Android products. BlackBerry has become much more of a niche product mainly used by businessmen and those with corporate lifestyles, and its operating system and available applications are targeted in this way. However with the recent emergence of the BlackBerry PlayBook, a tablet, RIM and BlackBerry are desperately trying to hold on to their former status in the market.
